Low Level Laser Therapy

Dr. Casañas uses low level laser therapy which is distinct from that used for aesthetic purposes and is usually applied in conjunction with other techniques as well. It is essentially a technique that applies laser energy to myofascial trigger points in the neck, shoulder, back, and other regions and allows the body to reconstruct itself, modifying the muscle cell contraction and nerve cell response and the production of endorphins. It also will reduce prostaglandin which is an agent of inflammation in the body and cause increased blood flow and lymphatic flow, as well as decrease edema and improve mobility almost immediately. In addition, it also causes collagen deposition much like prolotherapy does and the proliferation of myofibroblasts in cases of non-healing wounds. When used by itself, sometimes it may require only three to six treatments before patients notice significant pain relieving effect.
